Ohsweken Speedway: Fan Favourite on Friday Nights

The 3/8-mile clay oval track at Ohsweken Speedway is ready to welcome race fans back for 2024 “Friday Night Excitement.” Fans can expect this year’s 27th dirt track racing season to be bigger and better than ever, including visitor race packages, camping options, pit admissions, and driver meet-and-greets.

Originally scheduled for May 3rd, the practice session for all cars competing at the track was recently postponed due to ground conditions resulting from today’s rain. Now set for May 10th, drivers from the four weekly divisions will test and fine-tune, including Thunder Stocks, 360 Sprints, Crate Sprints and Mini Stocks. The season opener is scheduled for May 17th where all divisions will make their official debut. The full 2024 race schedule is packed with events you won’t want to miss, leading up to the 3nd running of the Northern Crate Nationals and the 20th running of the Northern Sprint Car Nationals.

With spring well underway and racing season hot on its heels, race fans can once again look forward to track, ticketing, and hospitality improvements. In addition, an enhanced schedule featuring Thunder On The Grand – a 3-night special with the NASCAR Canada Series, crates and 360s, Flat Track Canada Motorcycles, and the Northern Micro Sprint Nationals. And, of course, Ohsweken Speedway’s “Friday Night Excitement,” where local fans and visiting race enthusiasts are welcomed annually for Friday night dirt track racing thrills from May to September.

Transforming from its humble beginnings to a unique driver and fan destination alike, the track has grown to capacities greater than 8K, hosting a variety of events and special series. Incorporating a mix of spectator seating options, pit admission, race packages including camping, and special driver meet-and-greets, each season features something new, drawing the fans back at greater capacities.

From the free parking with your own crew, to the gate where the local staff make you feel welcome. In the stands seeing friendly faces and first-timers alike (heads-up, glasses and good hearing protection are good calls – especially for kids.) Watching the amazing summer sunsets off Turn 3 while the racing action leads up to the features. Not to mention the fireworks that follow. From start to finish it’s a fan experience unlike any other.

The sport also lends itself nicely to making everyone feel welcome, whether you’re a longtime fan or newcomer. The track, teams, and drivers never fail to extend that into the Six Nations community. Bicycle night, Halloween and Christmas in July, as well as Back to School Backpack night are just some of their efforts in partnership with sponsors.
